Derived from a mutation of Aeonium ‘Riverstones’, itself a mutation of ‘Pink Witch’, a direct descendant of ‘Blushing Beauty’.

Botanical description
Aeonium ‘Tesla’ is a shrub-form variegata very close to ‘Riverstones’. In winter, it displays a broad green central band surrounded by light-green lateral bands rather than the cream-white margins typical of ‘Riverstones’. It may show no pink at all during this period.
A particularly rich colour palette
From spring onward, the light-green areas of the outer leaves develop warm orange-to-red tones, sometimes with a hint of pink. The rosette centre remains green and rarely turns pink, which is an important identification feature. Its palette is generally more varied than that of ‘Riverstones’.
Wavy summer foliage
Under high temperatures, strong light or water stress, the leaves may curve and become slightly wavy, adding relief and a sculptural quality to the rosette.
Cultivation and behaviour
Growth is fast, offset production is excellent and vigour is high. No particular sensitivity has been reported apart from normal frost vulnerability.
A worthy heir to Riverstones
Its light-green winter margins, persistently green centre, warm summer colouring and wavy foliage give ‘Tesla’ a clear identity within the ‘Pink Witch’–‘Riverstones’ lineage.
