Origin: A mutation of Aeonium ‘Ink Painting’, which itself is a mutation of Aeonium ‘Mardi Gras’.

Description: Aeonium ‘History’ is a variegated Aeonium derived from a mutation of Aeonium ‘Ink Painting’.
In midwinter, when light levels are low, its leaves show a green central band and yellow-to-cream lateral bands, as in other Aeonium mutations derived from ‘Mardi Gras’, with a fine red edge along the leaf margins.
As light levels increase, the lateral margins become tinged with red, while the center of the leaf shifts to dark green and then almost black. The central area does not color uniformly and develops irregular streaks or marbling as it darkens.
This variegated Aeonium grows at a normal rate and produces offsets at an average rate. Early cultivation reports describe it as highly sensitive to humidity, including ambient humidity, which may help explain why it remains uncommon.
