How to use the screenshots: tap a numbered marker to see its explanation, or open the steps below each screenshot. Tool links open in another tab so you can keep this guide in view. Screenshots show the original French interface; the instructions describe the English controls.

1. Basic Search: find a plant

Know all or part of its name? Start with Basic Search. You can also browse names from A to Z and choose a genus or plant type.

Basic Search screenshot. Markers: 1 — genus; 2 — name; 3 — run the search. Enlarge screenshot.
① Choose the genus

Keep Aeonium for your first search. You can also choose Aichryson, Monanthes, × Semponium or All genera. You can leave the plant type set to All types.

② Enter a name

In Name, enter, for example, ‘Sunburst’, without quotation marks. Part of a name may be enough. Documented matches also include synonyms and former names.

③ Search and read the results

Click Search. The results appear. The field may clear, but your search criteria remain above the cards. Each card shows the accepted name and, where helpful, the matching name that explains why it appears.

In this example: searching for Sunburst also returns ‘Starburst’, because ‘Sunburst Middle Variegated’ is one of its recorded names. This does not mean that the two cultivars are identical. Always check the Premium profile before adding a plant.

Another option: browse A to Z

Choose a letter under Browse A to Z to browse matching names. All returns to all letters; 0-9 groups names beginning with a number. If there are several pages of results, use Next or Previous.

Read a card and open its profile

The same controls appear on each card. 1 — Premium profile; 2 — Collection and Wishlist controls. Enlarge screenshot.
① View the profile

Click View profile to open the Premium profile: summary, parentage, names, timeline, characteristics and sources, where available. The links Read the French article and Read the English article open the website articles, where available. In the profile, Back to results takes you back to your search.

② I own this plant / I want this plant

I own this plant adds a plant to your collection. The heart I want this plant adds it to My Wishlist. These controls apply to the cultivar named on the card: check its name and profile before using them.

2. Build your collection, step by step

You can start from a card or a Premium profile. The screenshot below shows the controls on the profile for ‘Sunburst’.

Premium profile screenshot. 1 — add to Collection; 2 — add to Wishlist; 3 — open your personal note. Enlarge screenshot.
① Add your first plant

Find a plant you actually own, then check its identity in the profile. Select I own this plant. Then open My Collection using the link below to find your entry.

② Find the plant in My Collection

In Detailed view, enter its name in Search my collection, then click Search. If there is no match, clear the name and search again to show your full collection. The At a glance button opens the overview.

Detailed view controls. 1 — change view; 2 — search your collection; 3 — choose a PDF export. Enlarge screenshot.
③ Add your tracking details

In the Detailed view, the + button opens Record an addition (+1). Add useful details — acquisition date, source, price and other information — then click Save to confirm. Cancel closes the form without adding an entry. The − button records a removal. Open My additions and removals to view your recorded transactions.

Blank Record an addition (+1) form: acquisition date, source, price, details, Save and Cancel.
Blank entry form. Save confirms the entry; Cancel closes the form without adding a transaction. Enlarge screenshot.

Understanding quantities: a dash — means ‘quantity not entered’. This is different from 0. A plant can be in your collection before you enter how many specimens you own.

④ Your personal note

In Detailed view, open My comments, enter your observation in Your note (only visible to you), then click Save my note. The Premium profile also provides a My private notelink. Use it to keep a care observation or a reminder to help you identify the pot.

Understanding At a glance

This view separates the number of varieties from the number of plants counted. The plant total includes only quantities you have entered. Groups can be expanded or collapsed; Expand all and Collapse all let you browse them quickly. Variegated forms are grouped by documented lineage. To change a quantity, return to Detailed view.

Keep a copy of your records

Which file should I choose? Both export links are in Detailed view, below the search.

The collection PDF presents your plants; the stock and transactions PDF records quantities and transactions.

  • Download my collection as PDF : keep a presentation of your collection.
  • Download my stock and movement history as PDF : review your quantities and transactions.

Your first goal: add three cultivars, check their quantities and try both views. The rest can wait!

3. Expert Search: explore further

Use Expert Search to explore plants by parentage, lineage, care, timeline, location, creator or your own lists. Open a module and start with one criterion; you can combine more criteria later.

Example with Sunburst as the starting point. 1 — open the module; 2 — select the suggested plant. Enlarge screenshot.
① Open Explore by lineage

In Expert Search, open Explore a lineage. This module finds mutations and reversions across the documented generations from a starting plant.

② Select a suggested plant

In Choose a starting plant, type Sunburst, then click Sunburst in the suggestions. Check that the message says Selected plant: Sunburst. Typing the name alone does not complete the selection.

③ Display the results

Click Show results, below the modules. In the checked example, results include ‘Starburst’ and ‘Emerald City’, with the generation and documented relationship indicated. Open the profiles to understand their parentage.

If your search is too restrictive: return to the active criteria above the results and remove one using its cross. Missing information in the catalogue does not prove that a relationship or characteristic does not exist.

4. My Wishlist: plan your next acquisitions

♡ Add a plant to My Wishlist

On a card or profile, select the heart I want this plant to find the plant in My Wishlist. On this page, the Search my wishlist field helps you find it. Once you acquire the plant, use I found it: move to my collection. You can also untick the heart Remove from my wishlist to remove it from this list.

5. Same Plant?: check names

Before buying a plant or checking a label, enter its name in the name matching tool. It searches for the name in the catalogue and shows the accepted name when a match is documented.

Example: Copper Pinwheel is linked to Sunburst. 1 — name to check; 2 — matching entry. Enlarge screenshot.
① Enter the name you found

In Which name did you find?, type, for example, Copper Pinwheel. The search starts automatically; you can also click Check it! or press Enter.

② Understand the result

In this example, Copper Pinwheel → Sunburst means that these names are linked to the same catalogue entry. Check the other known names and the Read profile link to learn more. Similar names suggested as possible leads are not automatically synonyms.

If you find two different labels for the same cultivar, also check your physical plants before changing your records. Several pots of the same cultivar still count as several specimens.

6. A missing name or information to add?

Try part of the name, another spelling or a synonym. Check the selected genus too. If the plant is still missing, use Suggest a missing cultivar below the results. For an existing profile, the Add to or correct this profile button lets you send a correction or additional information.
